Vivian I. Wandersee, 97, Detroit Lakes, MN, formerly Audubon, MN, died on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, in Essentia St. Mary’s, Detroit Lakes, MN.
Vivian Swenson was born on February 12, 1916, at Woodlake, MN, to Swen and Lieschen Schlenner Swenson. She grew up and attended school in Lake Park, graduating from Lake Park High School. She continued farming with her uncle Al west of Lake Park until she married Edwin A. Wandersee on August 16, 1945. Edwin and Vivian farmed north of Audubon, MN. Edwin died on May 1, 1994, and Vivian moved to an apartment in Audubon, and continued to take care of the farm.
Vivian was active in Ladies Aid church circles at Saron Lutheran Church and then First Lutheran Church in Audubon, where she also taught Sunday school.
She moved to Detroit Lakes in February of 2011.
Vivian is survived by her son, Dale Sheila Wandersee, Rosemount, MN; five grandchildren, Rachel Dane Ronning, Sarah Wandersee, Jonathan Kari Wandersee, Nisha Wandersee and Karisa Wandersee; four great-grandchildren, Conner, Leo, Seth and Nathan; and a daughter-in-law, Claire Sobon Wandersee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Robert, and sister Iona Larson.
Visitation: Friday, January 17, 2014, from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 6:00 P.M. in Wright Funeral Home, Lake Park, MN.
Funeral: Saturday, January 18, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. in First Lutheran Church, Audubon, MN.
Interment: Hamden Cemetery, rural Audubon, MN.
