Vivian L. Smart

Vivian L. Smart, 85, of Moorhead, died on January 17, 2005 in Villa Maria, Fargo, ND. Vivian was born on November 15, 1919 in Golden Valley, ND on the family farm to Marie and Ingvold Larson. Vivian grew up and attended school in Golden Valley and graduated Valedictorian of her class. Following high school she attended Business College in Bismarck, ND.She married W.A. "Jack" Smart on November 15, 1941 in Dickinson, ND. She was employed as a secretary for a military judge while they were stationed in Tennessee and Texas. Following Jack's discharge from the military they opened Dickinson Office Supply in 1947 and owned and operated the store until 1990.Vivian enjoyed and supported her children's school activities and served in the community. In 1995, she moved to the Fargo ? Moorhead area and lived with her daughter until her death.She is survived by one daughter, Karla Smart, Moorhead, MN; one son, Jack Mary Smart, Vermillion, SD; one brother, Orville Ruth Larson, Bismarck, ND; one sister, Esther Corlett, Drummond, MT; and her nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one sister, Mamie Picchioni; one brother, Leonard Larson. In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Churches United for the Homeless or the FM Humane Society.
