Vivian L. Sonju

Vivian L. Sonju, 94, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2013, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.

Vivian LuVerna Bergerson was born February 12, 1919, in Dawson, MN, where she grew up and graduated from high school. She married Sigurd Sonju on October 11, 1937. They lived in Milan, Sleepy Eye, Norwood, Cyrus, Finlayson and Kennedy, MN, before moving to Hawley in 1957.

She worked at various schools as a secretary and bookkeeper. She was later a credit manager at St. John’s Hospital for 23 years previous to her retirement.

She is survived by sons, Lyndon Katherine of Golden Valley, MN, Larry Renee of Red Wing, MN; daughters-in-law, Kay Sonju of Moorhead, MN, Patricia Dave Thielman of Monticello, MN; grandchildren, Kim Paul Gullicks, Terry Debbie Sonju, Christopher Kristen Sonju, Jeff Traci Sonju, Erik Alicia Sonju, Amy Dave Tuttle; granddaughter-in-law, Kim Ted Sonju-Zrust; great-grandchildren, Ryan Karen Gullicks, Kayla Matt Thompson, Kelsey Gullicks, Cameron, Avery and Celia Sonju-Zrust family, Ellie, Ethan and Ava Sonju, Madeline, Kate and Lillie Sonju, Annie and Nora Sonju, Max, Carly and Courtney Tuttle; and great-great grandchild, Kamryn Gullicks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sigurd; sons, Vincent and Virgil; daughter-in-law, Merrilee Sonju; grandson, Patrick; parents, Robert and Hannah Krugrud Bergerson; and 11 brothers and sisters.

A visitation will be held Monday, December 30, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., with funeral at 11:00 a.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Interment: Hawley Cemetery, Hawley, MN.
