Walter A. “Wally” Steinhoff

Walter (Wally) Alois Steinhoff, 83, of Glyndon, MN, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 19, 2019. Wally was one of nine children born to Louis and Genevieve (Klehr) Steinhoff. He graduated from Shakopee High School in Shakopee, MN, in 1954 and was coroneted Chief Shakopee. On May 14, 1960, Wally married Mary Ellen Vierling. They have been married for 59 years. Wally proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 -1961. Following his service he worked for Super Value Stores for 32 years. Wally also enjoyed his time as owner and trainer at F-M Dog Obedience School and the Mutt Hutt since 1973.

Wally is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; three children, Sheila (Bruce) Smith of West Fargo, ND, Steve (Becky) Steinhoff of Nevis, MN, Sheryl-Lynne (Dean) Wagner of Glyndon, MN; four grandsons, Bradley Wenner, Forrest Steinhoff, Garrett Wagner, Grant Wagner; and siblings, Jim (Dorothy) Steinhoff, Virgilla Geske, Louis (Rita) Steinhoff and Cathleen (Neil) Larson.

He was preceded in death by his parents;  siblings, Baby Boy Steinhoff, Bridget (Edye) Mosser, Jerry (Georgia) Steinhoff, Cletus Steinhoff; and brother-in-law, Bud Geske.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 8, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Funeral service will be Friday, August 9, at 11:00 a.m., in Maranatha Free Lutheran Church, Glyndon, MN.
