Walter D. Pender

Walter Dougal Pender, 91, died Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Lilac Homes in Dilworth under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date, due to COVID-19.

Walter was born June 9, 1928 to Ray and Myrtle (Cook) Pender in rural Baker, MN. Walter was baptized and confirmed in Downer and he attended District 58 School in Elmwood Township.

On June 18, 1948 Walter married MaryLou Ernst in Barnesville, MN. They farmed in the Glyndon area for 45 years and moved into Glyndon in 1987. He was a charter member of the Glyndon Lions Club. Walter enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time on the farm, playing pinochle, watching the Minnesota Twins and visiting. He was a member of the Maranatha Free Lutheran Church of Glyndon.

Walter is survived by his children, Patricia (Dennis) Ose of Wildomar, CA, Mary (Jim) Conway of Glyndon, Julie (Kevin) Kelso of Glyndon, Timothy (Lori) Pender of Glyndon, and Debra (Juan) Arancibia of Culver City, CA; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Walter leaves one sister, Colleen Fuller; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Pender and Myrtle Pender; and one brother-in-law, Don Short.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife, MaryLou; daughter, Jodi; his parents and in-laws; 4 brothers; and 3 sisters.
