Walter E. Myers

Walter E. Myers, 95, of Lake Park, MN, died Monday, July 3, 2006, in Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, MN.Walter was born on May 23, 1911 to Emanuel and Alicia Thaler Myers at home in Langdon, ND. He was baptized at the Methodist Church in Langdon. He attended school in Manilla Township #3 and Langdon High. He grew up on the family farm near Langdon where he farmed with his father until 1942 when he purchased is own farm about a half a mile east of where he was raised. On January 6, 1937 he married Irene Gustafson, together they had three children. Irene died in 1980. Walter farmed and raised dairy cattle near Langdon, until they moved to Lake Park, MN in 1960 where he continued to farm. He then married Marge Timothy in 1981, Marge died in 2001.Walter spent the winters for the last 30 years in Mesa, AZ. He thoroughly enjoyed fishing, reading, had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes. He was a self taught mechanic and carpenter and built all the buildings on their first farm. Walter was a member of Eskjo Lutheran Church in Lake Park. Walter is survived by one son, Gary Pam Myers, Detroit Lakes, MN, one daughter, Sophia James Wamre, Moorhead, MN, one sister, Annabelle Lowell McGhee, Langdon, ND, one daughter-in-law, Olivia Myers, New Orleans, LA, one sister-in-law, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and son, Walter Jr.
