Wayne E. ‘Porky’ Finney
Wayne E. (Porky) Finney of Georgetown, Minnesota, passed away at home on Saturday, April 16, 2022. Visitation is Saturday, April 23, at 2 p.m., followed by the funeral at 3 p.m., both at Wright Funeral Home, 605 Second Ave. S., Moorhead.
Wayne Finney was born March 24, 1956, to Milton and Lorraine Finney. He attended Georgetown, Minnesota, Elementary School and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1974. He spent his entire life farming and raising hogs in the Georgetown area.
“Porky” was known for his infectious laugh – a laugh that was uniquely his. His friends and neighbors – most of whom he grew up with – remember him for his sense of humor, his heart of gold, and his fierce loyalty to friends and family.
Wayne was also famous for his habitual tardiness and his eagle-eyed ability to spot a fox in a field from a mile away. A jack of all trades – and master of some – he lived his life by the words of Mark Twain: “Humor is mankind’s greatest blessing.”
Wayne married Tambra Oberg on Feb. 2, 1980, at Georgetown Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Tammy; his brothers Jeff and David; two sons: Tyler (Amy), Moorhead, and Dustin (Jessica), Grand Forks; and three grandsons, Logan, Aiden and Gavin. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Nancy, and granddaughter Isabelle.
