Wayne R. Jacobsen

Wayne R. Jacobsen, 84, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 in Farmstead Care, Moorhead, MN.

Wayne Richard Jacobsen was born on October 10, 1933 in Moorhead, MN, to Carius and Nora (Hoover) Jacobsen.  He grew up in Moorhead and attended school at Moorhead Campus School, graduating in 1951.

Wayne went to work on the family farm and on August 6, 1953, he married Leona Baker.  They made their home in Moorhead and Wayne took a job with Northwestern Supply.  He worked at Red Owl for a time before spending 13 years at Super Value, retiring in 2008.  He also worked at the local bowling alley which fueled his passion for the game.  He bowled in several leagues a week and was awarded the title of “Mr. Errorless”.  Wayne wasn’t one to sit still so he soon went back to work at the Fargodome in a housekeeping role until he was 81.

He enjoyed being outdoors, and in his earlier years spent time at the lake fishing.  He also collected car banks and was an avid sports fan.  He loved watching his Minnesota Twins and Vikings and enjoyed getting out to an F-M RedHawks game now and then.

Wayne is survived by his son, Richard (Patricia) Jacobsen; daughter, Debra Wolf; grandchildren, Nicole, Janna, Ryan, Megan and Kaylee; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Marvin (Jean) Jacobsen; sisters, Gladys (Loren) Wignes, Marlys (Jim) Winter and Carol (Floyd) Emerson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Raymond and sisters, Darlene and Cathaleen.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 11:00 am with a visitation beginning at 10:00 in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
