Wayne ’Stumpy’ Richard Mortenson

Wayne “Stumpy” Richard Mortenson, 73, of Lake Park, MN, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park, MN. Wayne was born on December 31, 1943, to Fred and Gladys Larson Mortenson in Detroit Lakes, MN. Wayne grew up and attended schools in Ogema and Glyndon, MN. He moved to Lake Park with his parents at a young age and resided there for the rest of his life.

Wayne was an avid outdoorsmen and enjoyed activities such as fishing, hunting, and gardening. He loved playing cards and spending time with his friends and family.

Wayne is survived by his loving companion, Janice Baker; siblings, Mavis Beaudine, Harlen Mortenson, Ramona Haglund, Ida Mae Anderson, Pat Bensen, Linda Ruziska, Merlin Mortenson, and Doug Mortenson; and many other loving relatives and friends. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Gladys; siblings, Chip, Warren, and Luella.

Memorial Service: Saturday, August 26, 2017, at 1:00PM at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley, MN with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial of Ashes: Saturday, August 26, 2017, immediately following the service at Houglum Lutheran Church Cemetery, Lake Park, MN.
