Wesley was born September 18, 1923 in Valley City, ND, to Clarence and Nettie Vogel Cresap. He grew up and attended school in Dover, ND, graduating from Dover High School in 1941. In 1942, Wes attended Dakota Business College. Wes married Marion Hoefel in Wimbledon, ND, on January 29, 1943. He then entered the U.S. Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA. He farmed in Wimbledon, ND and retired from farming when he began working for the Northern Pacific Railroad. They moved to Hawley, MN, in 1953 and continued to work for the railroad for 30 years. Later he was employed at Thysell Brothers and Clay Becker, now RDO. Wes and Marion moved to the Fairmont in Moorhead, MN in 2009. Wes entered Eventide Lutheran Home in July 2010. Wes enjoyed fishing, sports, athletic events, and received the "Fan of the Year" award in Hawley. He loved to drive through the country side and look at the crops. He was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where he served as Trustee, Elder, Treasurer and President. When the congregation of Our Savior's Lutheran Church built in 1986, Wes was instrumental in the building process. Wes was also a member of the American Legion for fifty consecutive years and was on the Hawley Cemetery Board. He was preceded in death by his son, Jim "Butch" Cresap; sister, Elva Witthauer and son-in-law, Roger Kragerud. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marion Cresap of Moorhead, MN; one son, David Teri Cresap of Perham, MN; four daughters, Diana Kragerud of Hawley, MN, Verlyn Mike Aakre of Dilworth, MN, Paula Rod Tweten of Edmond, OK, and Shelda Steve Heidecker of Burnsville, MN; two brothers, Robert Eileen Cresap of Cloquet, MN, and Eldon Penny Cresap of Bismarck, ND; three sisters, Inez Frank Leigman of Jamestown, ND, Joyce Merle Michaelson of Courtenay, ND, and brother-in-law, Herb Witthauer of Jamestown, ND; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren to be born.
