William “Bill” Bolin, 73, of Detroit Lakes, MN and formerly Glyndon, MN, died Thursday, November 8, 2018, in Ecumen Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
Bill was born April 16, 1945 in Fargo, ND, to Fay and Eleanor (Shave) Bolin. He graduated from Glyndon High School in 1963 and attended Concordia College for a short time. Bill worked for Cass Clay Creamery for 2 years before beginning a 35- year career in bread sales. The majority of those years were spent at Metz Baking. Bill was married to Delores Bates for 10 years and they had 5 children together.
To his children, Bill was more than just a dad. He was a coach, a chef, a cheerleader, a mentor, and a best friend. Most importantly, he loved all his children unconditionally. He loved to fish and hunt. He loved to vacation in Montana and Duluth with his family. Everywhere he went, people knew him and ultimately loved him. Family was the most important thing to him. His greatest accomplishment in life was raising his children and grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his children, Bill (Andrea) Bolin, Scandia MN, Brad (Jane) Bolin, Glyndon, MN, Brenda (George) Zych, Oswego, IL, Becky (Tom) Johnson, Dent, MN and Barb (Jim) Gilbert, Detroit Lakes; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dog, Fido.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 11:00 A.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead, MN. Friends and family may gather together from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Glyndon, MN.
