William “Billy” Yarbrough

William J. “Billy” Yarbrough, 87, of Hawley, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014, under the loving care of the staff of Hawley Senior Living.
William J. “Billy” Yarbrough was born May 29, 1927, to William E. and Anna Jore Yarbrough. He grew up and attended school in Hitterdal Minnesota. Following high school, Billy enlisted in the Army serving during WWII in Germany and France. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army in 1947, he returned to Hitterdal to farm with his dad on the family farm and for other area farmers. He enjoyed flying in his family’s Piper Cub, riding motorcycle, hunting, fishing and any time spent outdoors.
In the early 1980s Billy met Marge Kemmer and together they enjoyed traveling, spending summers at the lake, trips to the casino and ice fishing in the winter. They spent over 20 years together until Marge passed away in 2002. Times spent with Marge were some of his favorite moments.
In Billy’s later years he enjoyed visits and an occasional dinner out with his dear friend Genevieve Peterson. He also enjoyed reminiscing with his special friends, keeping up with their lives and sharing memories from the past usually over a cup of coffee.
Billy is survived by brother Herbert Donna Yarbrough, Hitterdal, MN and sister, Darlene Jim Cash; sister-in-law, Janet Yarbrough; numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends. He was greeted in heaven by his parents, special friend Marge Kemmer, brother, Edmund “Eddie” Yarbrough, and sister Wannitta Haugtvedt.

Visitation: one hour before the service in the church.
Funeral: Tuesday, June 24, 2014, 11:00 a.m., Salem Lutheran Church, Hitterdal, MN.
Interment: Salem East Cemetery, Hitterdal, MN.
