William C. Hughes

William "Bill" Hughes, 82, Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, MN, formerly Moorhead, MN, died on Saturday, February 7, 2009, in the nursing home.William C. Hughes was born on January 28, 1927, in Fargo, ND, to Franklin and Elsie Wilson Hughes. He grew up and attended school in Moorhead, graduating from Moorhead High School. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during WWII. Bill married Shirley Tiseth on December 31, 1952 in Moorhead. He worked for the Great Northern Railway later Burlington Northern as an agent/telegrapher before going to work for Amtrak as a ticket agent in Grand Forks, ND, and Fargo, ND. He retired for medical reasons in the early 1980's. Shirley died on December 20, 2002.Bill is survived by his son, Robert Hughes, Moorhead, MN; four daughters, Faye Bruce Thompson, Longmont, CO, Brenda Connolly, Walnut Creek, CA, Mary Jo Jim McKay, Moorhead, MN, and Jody Jamie Grossnickle, Minneapolis, MN; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
