William (Bill)(Pinball Wizard) Coppin died on June 26, 2024 after a long struggle with Colon Cancer.
Born in Hankinson and raised in Wahpeton, William made his home in Wahpeton.
Bill loved his famiy and friends very much, he cherished the time he was able to spend with all of them. He always looked forward to spending the week out at Holly's Resort in the summers with his whole family. Reading books he never took time to read otherwise, playing games, visiting with family and the many friends that he met throughout the years. He loved to watch all of his older tv shows, that he grew up on: Perry Mason, Andy Griffith, Star Trek, old westerns (John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart) and he loved the history channel.
He graduated from Wahpeton High School and went on to college at NDSCS. Bill loved all things techy. He loved a challenge of always trying to figure out how things work and what made them work. He loved to purchase vintage pinball machines and tear them apart and rebuild them brand new and he was good at it. He was often on many pinball forms helping out others who just couldn’t seem to figure out what was wrong. He even learned how to be a pilot and loved every minute of it.
He loved family, fishing, & his time with friends. Bill will always be rememberd for his humor, his ability to tell a story in full animation. He loved life and everything about it. He loved to be adventurous, try new things, but most of all he wanted to see and do as many things as he could in his life, and I believe he accomplished that very well. Bill never wanted to retire in North Dakota and always dreamed of living by the ocean, so he and his wife sold everything they owned and moved to Bahia de Caraquez, Ecuador and lived for the past year and a half on the ocean in true paradise.
Bill retired from Doosan Bobcat after 30+ years, something he was looking forward to for a long time.
He is survived by his wife Carrie Coppin, his son Alex Coppin, Sister Faye Wetzel (Richard), Niece Amy Long , Sister in Law Geri Bigham, his beloved Goldendoodles Zoey & Marah. He was preceded in death by his father, William Coppin; mother, Leon Coppin; brother, Michael Coppin.
The family thanks Hospic of the Red River Valley for their competence and unwavering compassion.
Bill was loved by many and will be missed by all. His favorite quote was "Whether it is apparent to you or not the future is unfolding exactly as it should" (so very true).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Red River Valley. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
