William E. ’Bill’ Mikkelsen

Bill was born October 11, 1943, to Elmer and Hazel Motschenbacher Mikkelsen. He grew up on the family farm near Sabin, where he attended school before graduating from Moorhead High School. Following high school he served in the Air National Guard. On August 6, 1966, he married Barbara Lammers in Sabin. Together they made their home and farmed near Sabin. Bill enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and traveling. In his retirement, he took pride in being the treasurer of Elmwood cemetery in Sabin and his storage facilities in Hawley, MN. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and personality. He enjoyed visiting and spending time with friends, but most of all loved his family.Bill is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara; daughters, Lisa Joey Johnson, Sheila David Thorp, Brenda Feitze DeVries Mikkelsen; grandsons, Billy and Joey Pederson, Zachary and Alex Thorp, Patrick and Yannick DeVries; sisters, Jean Fred Altenbernd, Kathryn Olson, Janice Jack Thiel, Betty Gonsorowski, Ann Gerdin; mother-in-law, Grace Lammers; brothers-in-law, Darrell Carol Lammers, Curtis Linda Lammers; and many nieces, nephews and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Clarence Lammers; sister-in-law, Beverly Kuehl; and brothers-in-law, Conrad Gonsorowski and Russ Gerdin.In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Elmwood Cemetery, Sabin, MN.
