William E. “Bill” Fick

October 15, 1943 — April 10, 2021

William Edward Fick, 77, of Hawley, MN, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Essentia Health Hospital, Fargo, North Dakota.

“Bill” was born October 15, 1943 in Minneapolis to Arthur and Madeline Fick. When he was 3 years old the family moved to Brookston, MN. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Air Force. On December 26th, 1975 he married Carol Wells in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Bill enjoyed trucking and traveling meeting people along the way; sharing stories and a social drink with the new or old friends.

Bill was a jack of all trades. He loved horses, hunting, fishing and just being outdoors. He was a cowboy at heart. Bill had an incredible sense of teasing but was also kindhearted and ready to give the shirt off his back to a friend and he always gave a hug to those coming or leaving.

He lived his life like one big trail ride across the USA.

Bill was always working on a painting, walking sticks and many other art projects. Bill loved cooking and entertaining friends. He was well known for his many versions of BBQ sauce. He loved animals and the outdoors.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Madeline Fick; brothers, Phillip “Booty” Fick and James Calvin; sisters, Jeannine Palmi and Madeline “Dolly” Larson.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Fick; daughters, Heidi and Sherry; sons, Todd (Hollie) and Tim (Aurora); three stepchildren, Khris, Graig and Shawn; grandchildren; sister, Helen (Jerry Foote) Carlblom; brothers-in-law, Roger (Alice) Hackensmith and Wendal Larson; sister-in-law, Colene Hackensmith; several nieces and nephews and their families; special friends, Kayla, Chloe and Abby, Lizzy, Mike, Hunter, and his beloved cats, Tigger & Sassy.

A visitation will be held Monday, April 19, 2021 from 1:00-2:00 PM followed by the memorial service at 2:00 in Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN. A livestream of the service will be available here on Bill’s page beginning at 2:00. Masks are required for those attending in person.
