William F. Barone

William F. Barone, age 90, passed away on April 17, 2019 at Moorhead Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center.

William was born on December 8, 1928, in Dilworth, MN, to John and Carmela (D’Angelo) Barone. He attended and graduated from Dilworth High School, where he played football for three years and was part of three undefeated teams. William served in the Army from 1950 to 1952. After his service, William worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad and the Burlington-Northern Railroad for 45 years. He met the love of his life, Marilyn Banks, and they were married on October 8, 1956 in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Fargo.

William enjoyed reading about and watching baseball, trains, and military movies. He was a kind and gentle soul who touched many lives during this lifetime. He was a man of dignity, integrity, and loyalty. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

William is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marilyn; son, Steve (Sheri) Barone; grandkids, Sara and Adam (Lana) Barone; sister-in-law, Jane Barone; brother-in-law, Harley Banks; nephews, James (Victoria Reinhardt) Barone; nieces, Angelique Gunderson and Sherry Martello.

William is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Albert Barone; sister Mildred Martello; brother-in-law, Pat Martello; and nephews, Tom Barone, John Martello, and Jerry Martello.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 22, at 2:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead, MN. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will take place St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
