Yvonne Ruth Jacobson

Yvonne Ruth (Martinson) Jacobson, 90, of Lake Park, MN, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024, surrounded by family, under the care of the staff at Sunnyside Nursing Home and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Yvonne was born to David and Lillian (Beehler) Martinson on October 12, 1934, in Oak Park, MN. She was the third of nine siblings. She went to Rural Country School and graduated from Milaca High School, class of 1951. After graduation, Vonnie moved to Minneapolis, MN, where she worked in a photography studio as a commercial artist retouching photos.

Yvonne met Arne Jacobson, and they were united in marriage on February 11, 1955. Together they raised six children on a farm between Hawley and Lake Park.

Yvonne worked several jobs in her 90 years. She took on ironing, worked at Silverline, Swifts Inc., Fingerhut, Emmanuel and Sunny Side nursing homes, and Walmart. She opened her own business, “Vonnie’s Upholstery Shop” where she fixed and repaired furniture in her own home in Lake Park. No job was too big or too small, Vonnie could do it all.

Yvonne is survived by her children, Kathleen Stearns. Rochert, MN, Barbara (Lowell) Aakre, Rollag, MN, Margaret Cossette, Fargo, ND, John Jacobson, Lake Park, MN, Mary (Jeff) Anders, Hawley, MN, and Brenda (John) Willman, Lindstrom, MN; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Glennavera Williamson, Shirley Claassen, and Dorothy Martinson; brothers, Ricky (Gail) Martinson and Erick (Kathy) Martinson; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Arne Jacobson; parents, David and Lillian; brother, Eldon Martinson; sisters, Willa Lou Sitz and June Peterson; infant twin sibling; son-in-law, David Stearns; great-grandson, Jayce David Okeson; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Hawley Alliance Church, Hawley, MN. Final resting place will be at Solem Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date.
