Bruce R. Warner

Bruce R. Warner, 91, of Fargo, ND, died on Monday, December 24, 2018, at home with his daughter, Kim.

Bruce, the youngest of 7 children, was born at home in Fargo to Charles and Leila (Link) Warner. He was an All-State star athlete during high school at Fargo Central. He was captain of the basketball team and also participated in football, baseball, and track. He graduated in 1945 and attended NDSU where he played football and basketball. As an adult, he played softball with the American Legion and Shorty’s Shoe Shop. He was inducted into the North Dakota Amateur Softball Hall of Fame in 1981.

His beloved wife, Medrean, died May 3, 2014. She said that “Bruce was the love of my life” and he always felt the same way about her. Bruce and Medrean lived with their daughter, Kim, since 2011 and it was Kim’s loving care that allowed Bruce to live at home until his death.

Bruce worked for many years at the Fargo Post Office before retiring in 1989.

Bruce was a dedicated family man and a great friend and neighbor. He was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need of help. His love for his pets was great.  He loved his grandchildren dearly and enjoyed taking them to many parks.

We are so proud of Bruce and he will be missed so much by his entire family, but especially his daughters, Kim and Lori. He will always be in their hearts.

Bruce is survived by his 2 daughters, Kim Warner and Lori (Greg) Charlton; five grandchildren, Rachel (John) Butler, Sonia (Wes) Agnew, Sarah (Alex) Hassel, Aron (Melissa) Strode, and Adam (Jeanette) Strode; 11 great-grandchildren, J.T. and Josh Butler, Jake and Jules Agnew, Casey Hassel, Eve, Brook, Grace, and Collin Strode, and Lucy and Samuel Strode.

In addition to his wife, Medrean, he was preceded in death by his mother and father, and six siblings, Charles J. Warner, Edna Warner, George Warner, Margaret Warner, Louisa Rose Warner, and Nancy (Melvin) Heaton.

There will be a private celebration of his life and family service at a later date.
