Hazel J. Nelson

Hazel Nelson, age 89, of Fargo, ND passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Eventide Senior Living.

Hazel Jeanette Carlson was born on July 10, 1930 in Fargo, ND. She attended and graduated from Fargo Central High School. Following her graduation, she worked various job before meeting Marvin Nelson. They were married in 1959 and moved to Jamestown where they started their family. In 1965, they moved back to Fargo because Marvin’s health was failing, and he passed away in 1970. In 1975, Hazel began running a café at Armberg and Rasmussen until 1978. She continued to work various jobs throughout her career such as Sweeney’s Cleaners, Camelot Cleaners, Eventide at Fairmount, and the Moorhead VFW. Hazel retired in the early 2000’s and kept herself busy with bingo, crochet, yard work, and spending time with friends and family.

Hazel is survived by her sons, Michael (Deb Rubin) of Hunter, ND, Curtis (Sherie) of Sabin, MN, and Allen (Barb) of Fargo; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; daughters, Valerie Nelson and Rhonda Nelson; and all her siblings.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 11:00 A.M., with a visitation starting at 10:00 A.M., at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead. Burial will be at Riverside, Fargo.
