Rodney Erickson

Rodney O.J. Erickson, 86, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2021, at Eventide on Eighth Care Center in Moorhead. Rodney was born in Gilchrist Township in Glenwood, MN, to Oscar and Anna (Carlson) Erickson. He grew up and attended district #2 country school through the 8^th grade. Rodney graduated from Glenwood High School before continuing his education at Augsburg College, where he graduated in 1956. Rodney served in the MN National Guard from 1957 – 1963. He then taught music in Zumbrota, MN, and Fertile, MN, before going back to college where he received his master’s degree in library science. In 1966, Rodney moved to Moorhead and began his career at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Over the years, he enjoyed his time and colleagues at MSUM. He also enjoyed being active in the community, at church and loved traveling all over the world. He was a friend to all.

Rodney is survived by his sister, Ardis Stone; brother, David (Nancy) Erickson; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother; sister, Donna Blair; brothers-in-law, James Dale Blair and Art Stone; great nephew, Joey Ferguson.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 21, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.

Funeral service will be Monday, March 22, at 11:00 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. A livestream of the service will be available by clicking the tab at the top of this page for those who aren’t able to attend.

Interment will follow the service at Rolling Forks Cemetery in Glenwood, MN.
