Ronald D. Brakke

Ronald D. Brakke, 80, of Grace City, ND, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 5, 2021, in his home.

Ronald Duane Brakke was born on May 20, 1941, in Fargo, ND, to Chester and Alice (Anderson) Brakke. He grew up on the family farm near Wild Rice, ND, and attended school there through 8^th grade. He then attended school in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1959. He went on to attend NDSU before returning home to run the family farm.

On October 17, 1967, Ron married the love of his life, Jean Marion Anderson. Together they raised three children, Kara, Daren, and Timothy. Jean passed away in 1985 and Ron lost the farm to foreclosure a few years later. He spent many years traveling and assisting other farmers in avoiding foreclosure.

In the summer of 2000, Ron moved to Grace City, ND, a small farming community. He took a job with the city doing anything and everything – from fixing city vehicles to mowing and trimming. Ron loved tinkering with classic cars and was never one to sit still. He loved the small town and enjoyed visiting with the area farmers. He was an active member of Faith Evangelical Free Church in Grace City, and the congregation played a major role in his walk with Christ.

Ron is survived by his children, Kara (Garret) Johnson, and Daren (Sheri) Brakke; grandchildren, Elyse, Aiden, Anna, Liam, Acacia, Timothy Tyler, Alerik, Timothy Duane Jr., Jean, Lydia, Lucy, and Max; sister, Nancy (Ronald) Bye, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jean and son, Timothy.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Burial will be in Comstock Lutheran Cemetery, Comstock, MN, following the ceremony.
